LAKE JACKSON, Texas – The Ron Paul 2012 Presidential Campaign announced details Thursday of its Ames Straw Poll activities, including a full speaking program set around a family-friendly atmosphere.
The speaking program will feature campaign senior advisor Doug Wead as master of ceremonies. Wead will preside over a program that will include Dr. Paul speaking twice, and his son U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) speaking twice.
Other speakers include Barry Goldwater, Jr., Ron Paul 2012 Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton, Campaign Manager John Tate and National Press Secretary Gary Howard. Also on this stage, Dr. Paul’s thousands of supporters will be treated to live music.
In all, 30 members of the Pauls’ extended family will attend.
Contributing to the family-friendly atmosphere will be a host of food and beverage options as well as children’s activities.
The campaign will serve hot dogs, as well as catered pork barbecue, potato salad, grilled sweet corn, baked beans, ice cold soft drinks, bottled water and ice cream.
Activities for children are located at Paul’s Prosperity Playground, and these will offer balloon animal making, face painting, a ‘Dump Ben Bernanke’ dunk tank, temporary tattoos and an inflatable ‘Sliding Dollar’ slide.
A veterans’ tent will have supporters of Dr. Paul who have served in armed forces as well as video testimonials of those wanting to express their support using online media and other channels.
The veterans’ tent will also include a large poster showing a pie chart to illustrate Dr. Paul’s campaign contributions from active-duty military personnel, which far outnumber those of his Republican primary competitors and those of President Barack Obama.
