2012 Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich has announced leaders of his Team 10 in Iowa.
Team 10 is a grassroots effort that empowers citizens to generate ideas on Facebook that will shift power away from the Washington, DC bureaucracy back home to the people.
The 10th Amendment to the Constitution states simply: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
“Washington’s ‘I know better than you’ mentality is killing jobs,” said Gingrich. “If you’re a doctor, this is how you must care for your patients, if you are a contractor this is the way you must hammer a nail, if you’re a tech-start up here is your tax bill. It’s not working, not for our economy and not for our citizens – so we’re going to fix it, together.”
In Iowa, the Iowa Conservative Union’s Jim Conklin of Marion will help lead Team 10.
Tea party and 912 Project leaders from around the country are leading Team 10. Through Facebook, the Team is soliciting ideas on how to enforce the 10th Amendment and limit government in Washington. Through voting, online and in-person events, and talking with each other, the best of these ideas will eventually become a “10th Amendment Enforcement Act.” As the Republican nominee, Gingrich would include the “10th Amendment Enforcement Act” as part of a new Contract with America.
