The Ron Paul 2012 presidential campaign has announced the formation of three groups of Iowans supporting the Texas congressman’s bid for the GOP nomination.
Iowa Rep. Jason Schultz, R-Schleswig, is a member of the national Farmers for Paul Advisory Board.
“As a farmer, I have seen the waste and unintended consequences of government programs that are outside the federal government’s mandate,” said Schultz, a western Iowa corn and soybean farmer. “Ron Paul’s record spanning 30 years of Constitutional conservatism proves that he doesn’t say one thing and then do another. He’s the one candidate who will steer our country back toward the liberty and prosperity that comes with true, limited government.”
Marine Corps veteran Rep. Glen Massie, R-Des Moines, noted Paul is the only candidate for the presidency who has served in the military.
“I am certain Iowa’s veterans will answer the call for the mission of supporting Ron Paul for president just as they have answered the solemn call to serve their country in times of urgent need,” said Massie, the first Iowa legislator to endorse Paul.
Catholics “or any person of faith” will be attracted by the fact Paul’s “political positions are unwavering, said Matt DeVries, who is also a Ron Paul campaign co-chairman for Iowa’s 3rd congressional district.
“Paul’s record on the sanctity of life cannot be questioned. I appreciate that he offers pro-life advocates new ways of thinking on this important issue, such as through affirming states’ rights,” DeVries said.
