Rand Paul cancels Iowa tea party tour, Cedar Rapids visit

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul’s Iowa tea party tour has been cancelled because he will be in Washington for the continuing debt ceiling negotiations and likely votes over the weekend.

“Naturally we understand that Sen. Paul is required to be in Washington for a critically important vote on the debt ceiling,” said Ron Paul 2012 campaign Iowa Chairman Drew Ivers.  “I’m sure Sen. Paul’s supporters are disappointed by not being able to see him due to this postponement, but it is far more important to have a strong taxpayer advocate in the Senate for this crucial vote.”

Paul, who was eleted in 2010 with tea party support, had several stops planned, including a July 30 visit to Cedar Rapids.
